You’re Not Imagining It

There’s a kind of invisibility that doesn’t come from silence—it comes from being the one holding it all together.

The emails that get answered slower.

The ideas that get nodded at but not written down.

The way your effort shows up in results but not in recognition.

I’ve felt it. Not every day. Not in every room. But often enough to know it’s not a glitch—it’s a system. One where being competent is expected, but being seen is… optional. One where grace and consistency can make you easy to overlook, unless you’re also loud, flashy, or constantly rebranding yourself for attention.

But here’s what I’ve learned:

Visibility isn’t just about being louder—it’s about being clearer.

It’s about drawing your own lines before someone else draws you out.

It’s about knowing when to speak and when to document.

It’s about asking, “What version of me did they hire—and what version have I allowed them to keep seeing?”

Sometimes breaking the wall isn’t about kicking it down. It’s about learning to walk through it like it’s made of fog. It’s about showing up in your fullness even when you’re not sure they’re looking—and then making sure it’s on record that you were there, and you delivered.

So here’s my note to self:

Don’t shrink to stay safe. Don’t blend in just because you’re used to it.

If the room can’t see you, build something that makes you undeniable.

You don’t have to fight for attention. Just stop making yourself easy to overlook.

Been there? Still there?
